You can still late register as a walk up on Friday the 21st from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at the New Balance store in Athens located at 1850 Epps Bridge Pkwy # 101 their phone number is (706) 552-3668 if you need directions. The Friday registration and bib/packet pickup has limited space so please contact info@athensgahalf.com to get your name on the list. Late registration is $70 and although we can guarantee that you will get a t-shirt due to the fact that the race is just two days away we cannot guarantee that it will be the size you want.

You can also do walk up registration on Saturday the 22nd from 12:00 to 6:00 PM at the at the Holiday Inn Express (please note–not the Holiday Inn like last year) at 513 West Broad Street. Their phone number is (706) 546-8122 if you need directions. This is not a limited space event, but the same conditions apply- Late registration is $70 and although we can guarantee that you will get a t-shirt due to the fact that the race is just two days away we cannot guarantee that it will be the size you want.”

Parking for the Race

We highly recommend parking in the North Campus Deck on the UGA campus located at 231 South Jackson Street. We have permission to use it.  It is free Sunday mornings, and it will hold 1200 cars. The start line is located directly behind the deck at 215 South Thomas St. This is an amazingly convenient and safe place to park.  The finish line is about 6 or 8 blocks downhill from this deck, so it should be a short, easy walk back after the race.

If you or your family and friends need to park at the finish line, you can park in the brand new Washington Street Parking Deck. It is free to park there on Sunday mornings and it holds over 500 cars. You will need to enter and exit from the Washington Street side (125 West Washington Street) because the finish line is literally on the back side of the Deck on Clayton Street and that entrance will be closed for the race.

There will be a special early packet/bib pickup opportunity on Friday, October 21 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at the New Balance Athens store at 1850 Epps Bridge Pkwy # 101. Their phone number is 706-552-3668 if you need directions.

This pickup is limited to 200 people and to take advantage of it, you will need to email info@athensgahalf.com to be put on the list of early packet/bib attendees. If you have not already registered, we will be taking walk-up, late registrations and volunteer registrations at the New Balance store during this time on the 21st.

There will also be free food, giveaways and sales on shoes and technical clothing at New Balance. Michael Williams from Work Out Warriors will be on hand doing body composition and hydration analysis so you can know just how hydrated you really are going into the race.

Pace groups will be available for runners (and run/walkers) trying to hit a certain pace. Here are the pace groups that will be available this year. Look for one that works for you and come join us.

Athens-Clarke County Wellness’ graduate level interns Nishita Narula and Amanda Burke invites all ACC employees to a workshop on sports nutrition and proper half marathon training techniques!

Not participating in the Athens Half? No problem! This workshop is also great for those simply looking to improve on their physical activity.

ALL fitness levels are welcome!

WHEN: Thursday, September 29th, 2011 at 5:30pm
WHERE: ACC Fitness Center, located behind Georgia Square Mall next to the Police Department
WHAT: Training tips focused on sports nutrition, stretch & strength exercises, suggested training method plans, and specific Athens Half insider tips. The workshop will be followed by an optional group 5K walk/run in a nearby neighborhood, so bring your workout gear and water bottle!

No need to register! Simply stop by to join us.
*Note: workshop equivalent to one Healthy Hour and group run equivalent to one 5k
